Josh & Co. came back into Florida after 3 month LONG tour, and showcased
lots of new music from the soon to be released CD (hopefully first of Jan.)
The new music is dynamite....rockin' blues with some funk thrown in and all
held
together with that frosty cold blues undercurrent. Chris is doing more vocals
and everyone is doing backup singing, yes even Tom (the bass player). Josh
and Chris co-wrote one of the new songs...I'm still not sure of the
titles...and the band seems to be having a ball on stage and that carries
over to the audience. We sure did miss the guys and were glad to hear them
again.

I first saw Josh Smith & The Frost
in Dallas at Blue Cat Blues in July 1998. I had heard some of his music on
The Zone 93.3 and bought the "Too Damn Cold" CD and had to see this
guy in person. He is absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed him that night
and have kept up with him since. My favorite musician is Stevie Ray Vaughn
and he reminds me so much of him. I still can't believe he is so young and
can play like that. Well I invited some of my friends to come down and see
Josh at Blue Cat Blues on Thursday, June 24. They all fell in love with him
just as I did. I will continue to follow him and support him. He is one hell
of a guitar player.......Diana from Allen, TX

Yes, it's me once again.... we have just returned from the Eureka Springs
Blues Fest after following(literally) Josh and his band to this wonderful
festival. The whole festival was full of "headliners" and very fan friendly.
We were able to catch 4 out of 5 of Joshs shows at the festival and the club
date Sunday after the fest. Jimmy Thackery came by Sunday to jam with Josh
and it was a real treat to have seen. Josh and the Frost were in wonderful
form at each show but the two sets on Saturday were absolutely awesome and i
have never (and iv'e seen them play many times) seen them in better form or
more smokin'. The crowd was very with them and everywhere we went we heard
"wow have you heard that Josh Smith and the Frost !" The energy and
dynamics coming from the newly formated Frost is intense and the guys are
interacting at a new level. We actually had to move to the back of the room
for the second set Saturday to escape the blistering heat coming musically
from the stage. Needless to say ..standing ovations and encores of course and
the guys couldn't go see other acts without fans surrounding them for
autographs and back patting. I want to once again thank Josh and his band for
allowing us to be part of this experience and for taking such good care of us
and fussing over us at this wonderful event. Not only are these guys three
talented musicians but extremely nice, sweet young men.I know i may be a
little biased but Josh Smith and the Frost were one of the best acts at the
festival. Joshs' guitar playing was in top form and in the same league as any
of the "big name " headliners. We went 1200 miles to this festival
to be blown away by the music but didn't expect to be blown so totally away
by the band we followed up from Florida !

Wow - great to see all the reviews and pictures! Thanks for posting them
everybody. I'm really looking forward to seeing Josh and the "New"
Frost at the end of June. It's been way too long - about 6 months! Sounds
like I have alot to be excited about!

Franni Palooza Blues Bash , May 30th, (Fort Lauderdale, FL) report: Josh took
the stage a little after 7:15pm and proceeded to dazzle the crowd. Josh was
as usual, in top form - and making it look easy. I'm looking foward to the
new CD. The new bass player (Tom?) is a great addition to the band, I
especially liked the wicked line he played in the last song before the
encore. And is that a 6-string bass he is playing? (I'm IC,
Instrument-Challenged). The band stayed with mostly 'power' songs, which had
the crowd (from 2 to 60 years old) dancin' and shoutin'. Glad to see them
here again, I hope they can come down more often.

We just came from another weekend with our favorite band and boy do I have I
have a newsflash for you ! The Frost has a new bass player ! Before I tell
more I'd like to say a fond farewell to Mike and to thank him for the
supportive backline he laid down behind Josh and his music . As we that are
band followers know ,bands often change members for innumerable reasons and
continue to move forward .Friday night at the Blues Ship in Tampa was Tom's
second night to perform with the band and even with a sparse crowd they put
on a kickin show....however Saturday 5/22 at the Bank and Blues Club in
Daytona to a full house ,Josh,Chris and Tom roared into full throttle and
gave the audience no mercy ! The energy level from the stage was high as the
guys delivered hot rockin' blues and Tom has added a new level of performance
from the stage ! They were rockin' and rollin' and playing frost cold blues
and it was obvious they were loving every minute of it. The "old "
music you all know and the new music is just getting better and better. Josh
and the Frost have a star shining for them and it's coming closer on the
horizon. Support the music, support the venues and help keep the music coming.

Little did I know when I went to see BB King (a life time dream come true -
all 28 yrs!) at Ruth Eckerd Hall and this kid I figured must be roadie
started playing that my music world was about to be ROCKED! I was prepared to
sit through the king's opening act in anticipation of his arrival, but ten
minutes into a set that had my foot tapping Josh's voice 'bout knocked me out
of my seat! I was sad to see him leave the stage. I immediately began looking
for more shows and found him at the Blues Fest. AWESOME set there! I am now a
Josh-junkie! I purchased the Too Damn Cold CD at the Blues Fest - and got it
autographed! Found out that not only can he play (love the teeth action) and
sing in the most electrifying voice, but he is quite sweet too! I will be
following Josh's career, dying for the next CD! I have even gotten a friend
completely hooked. Clearwater loves you Josh - come back often and soon! Hope
those HOB shows in May are a go! - Christiana :)

Josh Smith & the Frost opened four Fla dates for B B King ,five shows
in all. We saw them twice ..first in Clearwater at Ruth Eckerd Hall .The show
was sold out to an audience there to see B B King of course.Josh and his band
opened to the usual polite applause given to an opening act but with each
song he pulled them in and won them over.We were treated to watching from
back stage and i spent much of the time watching the audience react ,by the
end of his short set (40 minutes ) the applause and calls from the audience
were heartfelt and truly appreciative. Hard Rock Live in Orlando is a
beautiful hall with incredible sound from anywhere in the venue with two
large closed circuit t v screens at each side of the stage. We saw the second
set there(only 30 minutes ) and once again Josh and his band played cold to
an audience that didn't know them and they managed to wow the audience and
made them pay attention. I haven't said much about B B King but what can be
said that already hasn't....he is awesome and at 73 years young still seems
to be going strong . Everyone in his touring company that we met was very
friendly and glad to talk . I am glad to have been there to share this
incredible experience with Josh & guys .They really looked great up on
the "big stage " in front of 2200 + people, they looked and sounded
like they belong there.

About an hour ago my wife and I got back from the BB King performance at
Miccosukee Indian Gaming in Miami, Fl, with Josh Smith and the Frost
supporting. Josh and the band got the wildly mixed audience jumpin' within
about 30 seconds after the start of the set. I'd never heard of the band
before tonight, and I enjoyed 'em more than BB King. First priority tomorrow:
Buy the CD. Any of them. All of them. And I won't be the only one, either.

Coming @ you from sunny Florida. I just saw Josh Smith & The Frost @
Ruth Eckerd Hall here in Clearwater play with the one and only legend
today....B.B.King. First time seeing Josh without the Rhino's, but,as usual
he was rockin' with the blues. Such talent and style from such a young man.
This can only mean he's on the path to becoming a legend in his own right
with time. Keep up the soul searchin, heart scorchin' blues and can't to see
you again. Keep strummin'!

Josh & the band: Great job tearing it up with BB King in Clearwater
at Ruth Eckerd Hall !! The ONLY disappointment was it had to be a short set.
It's great to hear everyone around me say, "who is this guy?" in
the beginning, and "Wow, that Josh Smith guy can really play!" at
the end. See you next week in St. Pete.

Once again I just want to thank Josh and the band for a smokin show at
the "meet me at downtown Boca " affair. It is a treat to live in
south FL and get to see Josh so often. To anyone who has not seen Josh play
or heard Joshs CD's you need to do both! Josh, once again Thanks for the
great shows. We will see you at Ray's in West Palm real soon. Thanks DJ Jeff

Food bank festival: Josh and his band tore into a 75 minute set under
very threatening weather conditions .the audience stuck it out and the rain
didn't come until the last song which was a smoking "Hey Joe"
encore called for by a standing ovation from a much appreciative audience
.Some old songs, some low down dirty blues...several new songs that will be on
the new c d. The crowd obviously knew Josh and his work and were with him
from the first note, people that didn't know him and his band were won over .
The band is opening Fla. dates for B.B. King and then go
into the studio to work on the much awaited new c d before they start their
next national tour and the summer festival circuit .

hi please pass along to Josh and the band how much we enjoyed his music here
in Rochester mn! Besides being a great talent, he is a true gentleman. It is
nice that many of the blues musicians make themselves available to talk with
before and after the show. this brings fans even closer to their music! we
just have a small and i mean small club in Rochester to accommidate blues
bands but the fan base continues to grow slowly but surely in this area! my
wife and i are new to Joshs music but knew we were hooked after hearing just
a few songs!im a local musician in this area and now must get out there and
spread the word of this incredible guitar player! after hearing his cd too
damn cold, i am really beginning to appreciate Joshs timing/phrasing of his
vocals laid against his guitar work! hope to hear from anyone who likes to
talk "shop" about the blues and about Josh of course,as it is a
great way to learn more about the blues scene! feel free to contact me and
thanks to whom ever put this web site together! moletrap@aol.com

Hey guys, Just a quick note to say I`m looking foward to seeing Josh and the
band tomorrow night, Feb. 2nd, at the Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse. I saw Josh
the last time he was here. I couldn`t have been more impressed. I`ll be
bringing 5 of my blues lovin` buddies with me on Tues. I have no doubt they`ll
be picking they`re jaws up off the floor. I`ve tried not
to build Josh up too much, but I`m not sure that`s possible. I really have to
commend everyone who has a hand in handling Joshs` career. Keep up the good
work, it`s only a matter of time before the right person sees what we all
already have. Blues is Blues, A.J. Marino

It's Lilac from CDG chat, but I also love Josh's music!! Glad to see he got a
new drummer, can't wait to hear all of them at the Dinosaur on 2/3!!!
(Rochester) Sass & mrs. wizbini had their turns, and Josh was here way
back, this past summer..so it's time!! I'll take some pictures at the show
and hopefully send them in for the page. And if they play on the radio in the
morning before the show, I'll try to tape it - WCMF 96.5 (they feature the
Wed. Dinosaur bands) Take Care,

Well we spent the long holiday weekend roadtrippin' with Josh & Co.
(four days with 4 teens 14-17 in a 27 ft. r v ).first stop was Lyric Theater
in Stuart,Fla.,a very nice community theater that is a great venue . The best
part, aside from the music of course, was watching teens that "hate blues
" jaws drop as they watched joshs fantastic playing, kids so hate it
when their parents are right ! The next 2 nights we saw Josh & Co. at the
House of Blues in Orlando where they are doing a 5 day stand that kicks off
the current tour. Once again our blues hating teens joined us for the show
and decided that he was worth seeing again and they would bring more friends
next time the venue made it possible ! Sunday Josh auditioned and HIRED a new
drummer who will start with them in Roanoke Va.His name is Chris Chance and
he sat in part of the 2nd set Sunday night . We were treated to a sneak peak
at Chris and some good blues jamming . We were able to meet Chris and he
appears to be a wonderful addition to the Frost powerhouse trio . We had such
a great weekend it was hard to say goodbye Monday night to the guys but kids
have to go back to school and we have to go back to work to support this
habit ! I guess the rest of the country deserves this terrific music also and
they are leaving Fla. for a month long tour this time .
